M.A.D. For Reading
M.A.D. is a dynamic group of fifth and sixth grade girls - and their mothers - exploring the glorious world of books. Each month we select a book to read, then meet to talk about it. We always have something to eat and end the evening with a craft activity related to the book. In addition to reading books, we will explore poetry (and produce some of our own) and devote an evening to taking parts to read a play out loud. Our next meeting will be Thursday, November 19th at 6:00 pm. We will be reading Saffy's Angel by Hilary McKay. For more info call Gail Hollinger, 269-792-2891 or email at waygh@henikalibrary.org.
What's new in the Youth Area, besides the new windows?
The Early Literacy Station for children 2-10 years olds! This is a stand alone computer, not hooked up to the internet. Parents can actually download a child-safe browser with a USB stick for any Windows PC. The Literacy Station was purchased with funds from the Estate of Peg Kettle, a retired Hopkins Elementary teacher.
Grand Rapids Children's Museum Passes
Henika Library Card holders (18 years or older) can checkout a pass once a year, must be used by expiration date, valid for a group of up to 6 people, not valid for special events. Must have fun and enjoy while using!
