Governor Granholm has issued an Executive Order that dissolves the Department of History, Arts and Libraries efective October 1, 2009. Enusing budget cuts jeopoardize library copperatives and the services they provide. This include interlibrary loan and the delivery of those materials. Urge your legislators to veto this executive order and retain funding for librries at their current levels.
Visit www.mla.lib.mi.us and read the article. Then click on the Advocacy tab and cchoose "Write Your Legislator" to register your opposition to the Governor's Executor Order. MEL will also be touched by these cuts.
